Licensing

A license is required to use Yeti. If you don't have a license, you can either purchase one via our online store or request a trial.

We offer both Yeti Studio and Yeti Indie licenses.

Studio

A Studio license is floating, with one interactive and five render licenses and includes comprehensive support. A Floating license must be installed on a central license server which can be shared between multiple users within a studio environment.

Indie

An Indie license is node-locked to a single machine with one interactive and one render license. It also has limited support and restrictions on commercial use.

If you're unsure about the type of license you need, please contact our license team and we'll be happy to assist you.

License Tools

Yeti Studio uses the Reprise License Manager to manage floating licenses across multiple machines and platforms.

If you're using a floating license, you'll need to download our license tools which include our specific ISV files and license server.

info

There is no need to install the RLM server if you are using a node locked license.

Download

The latest release of our licensing tools is v1.1 for Windows and Linux. They can be downloaded via our download page.

Additional documentation is provided by the Reprise team at RLM End User Manual.

Host ID (MAC Address)

A Host ID is required to issue a license.

The Host ID is a unique identifier for licensing purposes. In most cases, the Host ID for your system will be the same as the MAC address of your primary ethernet device (en0).

Using RLM tools to query for the Host ID

An easy cross platform way of determining the correct hostid for your system is to use our license tools.

The first step is to download our license tool distribution and extract them to a directory of your choosing - once you have extracted the tools you will need to open a command prompt/terminal, change to the directory where the tools were extracted and run the appropriate command below for your OS of choice.

For Linux/macOS:

rlmutil rlmhostid ether

For Windows:

rlmutil rlmhostid -q ether

on the server that will host the licenses (for floating licenses) or the local workstation where the software will be used (for node locked licenses).

This will return a 12 digit hexidecimal value (which is the hostid) that looks like:

b39d476c3e78

Querying for the Host ID without the RLM tools

Windows

To find your hostid, you will need to open a command prompt and enter some commands that will return information about your system. To do this, go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

You should then run:

ipconfig /all

the correct hostid will be the Physical Address of the first Ethernet adapter listed.

Linux

To find your hostid, you will need to open a Terminal window and enter some commands that will return information about your system.

You should then run:

/sbin/ifconfig eth0 | grep -i hwadd

and the string to the right of the HWadd with the colons removed will be the correct hostid.

Once you have the correct host ID this can be provided with your purchase or trial request so we may issue the license, it will be validated upon receipt to make sure it's in the correct format.

Installation

If you have purchased a floating license please refer to our Floating (Studio) License Installation, otherwise node locked licensees can reference Node Locked (Indie) License Installation.
